That's how many kangaroos I counted lounging around at the end of my street today. Funny to think there are people in the world who have never seen a kangaroo in real life, yet I can get close enough to count their eyelashes at times. Its great to live in Canberra, a sense of the bush, with city benefits round the corner.

14 years married. We have had our share of ups and downs to make it to where we are, and it was all worth it. Each year is better than the last. Looking forward to 14 more.

how things look from here

Some mornings after taking the girls to school I like to sit out front and just look at the view. This particular morning I sat with my camera and clicked a couple of shots. My dog sat beside me, tongue hanging out watching the kangaroos, and happy to have company.

I have been playing around with some Photoshop Actions that I downloaded from Coffeeshop. This one is the Perfect Portraits action, and my first attempt.

Slow down

You my son are growing up just way too fast. You are officially taller than me now, you have had bigger feet for ages, and your hands are bigger than mine too. At 13 I can see glimpes of the man you are becoming, but I dont mind if you take things a bit slower, take a bit longer to grow up, its OK really xxx

Even though we live in NSW, we work in the ACT, so last weekend we were lucky enough to have a long weekend. We headed for the NSW south coast, to Potato Point. The skies were overcast but, the weather was still warm enough to avoid rugging up, and the nights were cool enough to make a camp fire seem very welcome. As usual the food was superb and the company exceptional. From our campsite we could see the entire beach so we spent a lot of time relaxing in our chairs, watching our kids play in the sand, sipping a glass of our favourite cooled beverage... champagne anyone? ;-)

These five little girls spent hours (and I do not exaggerate here) hours, looking for shells. Their ages ranged between 11 and 7 and they got on like a house on fire. It was lovely to watch them skipping around together, sharing their shell treasures, and generally being gorgeous little girls. This photo was my favourite, they are all doing their own thing, together. It makes me smile.

Just for Jenny here are the words to go with the pictures ;-)

The photos from the last post were taken one morning before heading out to school. I had a momentary lapse of memory, and couldn't recall if I had taken the customary first day of school shots. Silly me, of course I had, but as it turned out I liked the second shoot better than the first anyway, as the kids were more relaxed, and not worrying about which teachers they would have, and if they would be with their friends. After yesterday I will have to do another shoot, because both girls had their hair cut shorter and I want to capture their new looks (which although I am totally biased think look really really cute).

The frames I used on the photos are Viewfinder Frames from Paislee Press available at Oscraps, and right now I am really loving them, I am using them a lot, in fact you will probably see more of them on here a few more times, because they just really appeal to me. If you haven't checked out Paislee Press designs do yourself a favour, they are truly gorgeous.

I started with Project 365 this year, and most weeks have been fairly successful with remembering to take a photo each day. I have missed one or two days here and there, but then on other days have taken so many photos that I have still had enough relevant photos to fill each weeks layouts. Will post some of the layouts here when time is more permitting.

Life has been very busy, and I have been struggling to fit in the things that I want to do after all of the necessary stuff gets done. EG. I have started an online photography course with Proud Photography, and so far have only managed to complete the first on line lesson, and I am dying to get further into it, but every time I think I have enough time to sit down and take the next lesson someone else calls out "Muuuuumm I neeed .... (insert various items here)" and I am caught up in the whirlwind of family life again, just like that.

Its all good though.
